Workforce / family schedules / local context

Work changes how a week fits together.

Before planning training, transport or family support, understand the work patterns a source actually measures.

Explore past-year work participation, usual hours and weeks worked in 7,500 native Census places across all 50 states.

Three layers of a more useful question

01

Participation

Who reported work in the past year? Keep that population separate from today's labor force and job openings.

02

Hours and weeks

Compare usual weekly hours, weeks worked and their joint category. These do not establish pay, benefits or schedule predictability.

03

Your next check

Connect the context to current wages, routes, care schedules or training evidence. Do not infer one family's situation from separate aggregates.

Evidence before a conclusion

ACS 2020-2024 five-year estimates, native 2024 place boundaries. Universe: population 16 to 64 years. State and national benchmarks include the place.

Original government data stays free. Paid layers add preparation and context. Original component 90% margins are retained; no derived uncertainty, significance, forecast, causal effect or best-place ranking is claimed. Estimated denominators are not sample sizes.

Each cohort starts with up to five remaining eligible places per state and then the largest remaining estimated working populations. The second cohort excludes every place in the first cohort. The third cohort excludes every place in the first two cohorts. This is coverage selection, not an opportunity ranking. Reasons for not working are not identified, and these measures are not restricted to a civilian-only population.
