Burden and exclusions
See the shares paying at least 30% or 50% of income on gross rent, alongside the population with no computed ratio. Not-computed cases stay separate from zero burden.
Housing decisions / renter context
For renters, families and the people helping them plan. Compare cost burden, the rentals excluded from that ratio, tenure and occupied building types.
5,000 native Census places across all 50 states. ACS 2020-2024 five-year estimates, with 2024 place boundaries.
Find a renter kitSee the shares paying at least 30% or 50% of income on gross rent, alongside the population with no computed ratio. Not-computed cases stay separate from zero burden.
Compare rental tenure and one-unit, smaller multifamily, larger multifamily, mobile-home and other published categories. Occupied stock does not establish current availability or property condition.
Keep the source populations, original rows and margins. Then check current leases, total costs, accessibility, local conditions and the details relevant to your decision.
Search a city, town or Census-designated place, or a topic such as burden or apartments. These are native place estimates, not ZIP areas or neighborhoods.

Original government data remains free. The paid layers save preparation time and add context. State and national benchmarks include the focal place. Separate aggregates do not describe one linked household.
Each cohort starts with up to five remaining qualified places per state, then adds places by estimated occupied rental units. The second cohort excludes every place in the first cohort. It is coverage selection, not a best-place ranking. The smallest selected source denominator is 548 estimated units. These are not respondent counts or a statistical precision rating. Original component margins are retained; no derived confidence interval, significance, causal effect, individual outcome or forecast is claimed.
Not computed does not necessarily mean a missing answer. The rent table alone does not identify why a ratio was not computed. Structure categories are not inspections, current listings or counts of unhoused people.
